Study of reproductive potential of Lepidorhombus sp. and Merluccius merluccius. Involvement in the evaluation and assessment.

Demersal resources of interest to the Galician fleet currently outside safe biological limits or over-exploited. Since one of the basic objectives in fisheries management is to maintain sufficient reproductive potential of a stock that will allow the sustainable exploitation of the same, this project aims to analyze the reproductive potential of both demersal species of greatest importance to the fleet Galician from the point of view of their abundance and their economic interest such as hake (Merluccius merluccius) and megrim in Galician waters (Lepidorhombus boscii) and Grand Sole (L. whiffiagonis).

o achieve this overall goal the entire reproductive cycle and maturation rooster warheads in both species studied.

Fast and accurate for determining fertility hake and megrim for routine use methods developed.

Fertility, partial and potential rooster and hake it estimated. Spawning frequency, bioenergetics levels atresia in megrim

Maturation schedule used in the assessment of megrim will be updated, assessing its impact on the assessment against the currently used.

We will try to refine the stock recruitment relationship used in assessment to new data from reproductive potential.

And finally the possibility of developing alternative biological reference points based on the reproductive potential for the 2 species of megrim and two stocks of hake will be discussed.
