TEACHING

In addition to research work , several members of the group actively participate in various educational programs. These are the most important educational activities of the group which include doctoral courses, graduate and master training programs. CSIC.

DOCTORAL COURSE

REPRODUCTIVE ECOLOGY AND REPRODUCTIVE POTENTIAL OF MARINE FISH POPULATIONS

PhD training program of the University of Vigo (40h)

This course complements the course entitled “Analysis of reproductive parameters in marine fish populations” (120h), during the second year of the PhD program.

The objectives of the course are to deepen the knowledge of the reproductive strategies of different commercially harvested marine species and their responses to both environmental and fishing changes. We study the different patterns and estrategies, estimate size and age at first maturation and its fluctuations. We analyze the differences between strategies at the time and place od spawning. Also reproductive migrations and bioenergetics of reproduction, the concept of reproductive potential and in general all reproductive parameters that influence the recruitment of fish populations and the mechanisms that affect fluctuacions and problems of stock-recruitment relationships.

CSIC TRAINING OFFICE

MICROSCOPY AND IMAGE ANALYSIS

In 2008 this department taught the course entitled ” Microscopy and Image Analysis “, organized by the CSIC Training Office, with a duration of 14h. It described the fundaments of optical microscopy and image analysis and its applications in fisheries ecology
